The Host–Pathogen Interaction Center (HPIC) is a newly established research center at the University of Szeged. It was founded with significant professional and financial support from Nobel laureate Katalin Karikó. Our lab's main focus is the study of host-pathogen interactions, with a special emphasis on fungal infections that pose a serious threat to human health. We are equipped with modern, state-of-the-art laboratories and a unique in vivo experimental facility. This allows us to perform comprehensive preclinical testing of new antimicrobial agents, especially antifungal compounds. Our goal is to operate as an open platform, actively supporting both national and international research collaborations. Our mission is to elevate our lab to the forefront of global pathogen research and contribute to the development of new and effective therapies for the future.
